Tetouan was the capital of Morocco’s Spanish Protectorate from 1912 to 1956, and boasts a distinctive Hispanic flavor. At its heart is a mountainside UNESCO-listed medina and whitewashed new town graced with palm-lined boulevards, mosques, and Spanish colonial-era architecture. On arrival, take a walking tour of the town’s highlights. Drink in the Spanish-infused atmosphere and enter the walled medina, still largely untouched from the 17th century.
