The Rescue Diver Course is designed to develop your knowledge and necessary skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assist and administer necessary first aid. You will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes.
Who this course is for: Any certified open water scuba diver who wishes to expand their diver knowledge and skill set Any certified advanced adventure diver or advanced diver who would like to advance in dive training Anyone interested in becoming a dive leader
What you can expect to learn:
The rescue certification course is designed to develop the knowledge and necessary skills for an individual to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, and administer necessary first aid.

Prevention and causes of diving accidents Stress and psychological factors Physical conditioning Equipment Surface drowning syndrome Diving lifesaving Self rescue Diver assists Surface and underwater rescues Types of transports In-water artificial respiration Boat and shore exit techniques Diver first aid Review of oxygen administration Hyperbaric injuries and management Information collection Access to a hyperbaric chamber Accident Management Student Prerequisites
Minimum age 18 (15 with parental consent) Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen (O2) provider Provide proof of Advanced Diver certification, or equivalent, or open water diver certification and 40 logged open water dives

Sometimes our activities may have to be rescheduled due to situations outside of our control, such as poor weather. Please note we reschedule in such situations, as described in our terms and conditions.
Please note that NZ Diving will offer alternate dates if conditions do not allow for safe travel or if minimum numbers are not met. In case of a cancellation we will reschedule the charter, we can put you on a different dive charter, you can use the amount paid as credit, transfer the credit to a different person or help with a letter for your travel insurance. Overseas participants are advised to carry travel insurance in case rescheduling is unsuitable.

All participants must be able to swim a minimum of 200m, unassisted.
